Beautiful wooden charms and 2 new art prints of the sea
Sitting still is not something I am good at. And, I don't like doing the same thing over and over again. So I am currently making a lot of new things. Different material or yet another new image. Sometimes I re-use a design or illustration for another design. In this case, the illustrations for the new giclee prints (on again beautiful paper) with the sea theme, were previously made for a chocolate bar wrapper. (The chocolate maker was by the sea) and I cut one of the designs of the wooden charms earlier and used it on a coffee packaging. (the girl with the large eyes!)
Necklace charms
I wanted something big again and was looking for some designs to create new necklace charms. I created wooden brooches before, and was looking for a larger version, this time as a pendant. And large, they are! They stand out on any garment and it will certainly give a reaction from the people around you. I like that, some striking jewelry or clothing. So for me it can often not be bold enough. It is all often boring enough.
I have made 3 designs. I already had the green bird as a wooden brooch but this one is brighter in color and twice as big. The face in Mod style with the big black eyes, I thought it a lovely and funny illustration, and wanted to do something more with it than the design it was made for. The flower, originally paper cut, (just like all other designs) was given a pattern that I made earlier. The mid-century style pattern is one of my favorites, so that one has also returned. I used that pattern in my latest tapestry as well, (more about that later)
Because the charms are quite large, they also work as small little artworks that you can hang on the wall. I have beautiful, thin display needles, that you can easily get into the wall, so such a small work of art is hung up in no time.
I will soon put these wooden little artworks in my etsy shop, The design is printed on birch wood and there are only 20 of each design.
The sea theme giclee’s
The 2 giclee prints (30x40 cm) are printed on handmade Hahnemuhle paper. Every time I am surprised by the beautiful quality of the prints. The colors are very matte and beautiful intense. I just love this process. These are 2 prints inspired by the sea. It’s a place I love to go! The actually work beautiful together, the waves with the abstract boats and the wild waves with the birds above. Unfortunately I can't hang everything myself... I have no more space!
New Tapesrty
As a final piece of news: I have made a tapestry with my favorite mid-century style pattern, (made with cut-out strips of paper.) To make the tapestry even more personal, I added a unique texture to it. With my sewing machine with pink neon thread I gave it an extra layer. This gives it an even more artisanal look. There is only 1. Every other wall hanging will look different. I like that too, always developing one step further.
A happy new year
Not sure if I will write a newsletter before the year is over, so… to everyone who receives my newsletter, I wish you a very happy new year. On to a colorful 2025!
