The previous newsletter was a while ago, the year 2025 is already in full swing. As a creative, I have not been sitting still and I will briefly update you on what I have been up to. I have:
- been able to enjoy my exhibition a little bit longer then expected, with artwork and tapestries in Zeist (1 week left)
Exhibition at de Klop Mode in Zeist

- bought a serger to add even more neon thread to my sewing projects. (I still have to practice a bit to get more experience)
- I'm also trying out some new products, an acoustic panel made from old jeans and a nice warm blanket with my pattern on it. So experimenting with new products and the way it shows my designs. Keep an eye on my etsy shop, at least for the blanket.
- my new wooden charms, are now available in my etsy shop.
- bought A neon smiley to brighten my wall and it truly makes me smile when I look at it.
- made new papercuts or let say, I am experimenting with different paper, scissors and ways of folding the paper. On experimenting: I asked chatgpt about the power of experimenting. Fascinating!
Why Experimentation Matters
Experimentation in art is a means of self-discovery. It’s about breaking free from the comfort of what you know and embracing the unknown. Whether it’s using new mediums, exploring unfamiliar styles, or combining techniques in novel ways, experimentation is an invitation to grow. It forces you to confront the limitations of your current skills and allows you to develop new ways of thinking and creating.
Through experimentation, artists often stumble upon surprising results that can redefine their creative practice. It's in those moments of uncertainty—when you're unsure of the outcome—that you find the most exciting opportunities. Experimentation isn’t just about creating something new; it’s about pushing yourself to see the world from a different perspective and discovering new ways to express yourself.
When you take risks in your creative work, you open yourself up to a world of possibilities. The act of trying something different, even if it initially feels uncomfortable, can lead to unexpected breakthroughs. Sometimes, it’s not about the outcome of the experiment itself but the new perspective it provides. You may discover a technique, style, or theme that speaks to you in ways you hadn’t anticipated.
For instance, incorporating a new medium into your work—such as digital tools, mixed media, or unconventional materials—can ignite a fresh approach to your process. Even exploring different art forms or collaborating with others can challenge your preconceived notions and push you in new directions.
Art isn’t meant to be safe—it’s meant to be an adventure. So take that leap, experiment fearlessly, and watch your creativity soar.
