Work in progress for the Flower Art Museum exhibition

In the heart of The Netherlands, set against the backdrop of the picturesque Dutch landscape, the Flower Art Museum is preparing to host an fabulous Flora and Fauna exhibition and it will show the art form of papercutting in flower and plants, mostly in modern ways. The Vereniging van Papierknipkunst (Society of Paper Cutting Art), is eagerly participating to show work of the intricate paper craftsmanship. From October 1, 2023, to January 14, 2024, art and flower enthusiasts will be able to see this extraordinary display of original papercuts, wall art, and tapestries.
As the exhibition's opening draws near, I am buzzing with creative energy. I have been crafting pieces that capture the essence of paper cutting and also show my way of designing with the cutouts as a base for my large designs. The studio is a whirlwind of paper, tools, and inspiration, with each piece in progress reflecting the dedication and passion that fuel my creative process. For this exibition I will blend the craft with the modern techniques of computer and print. In the exhibition you can witness firsthand the journey from raw paper sheets to detailed and colorful artworks that come alive with depth, color and texture. It's still work in progress, the definite pieces will still be selected, but I am almost there.
Celebrating Papercutting Tradition: Vereniging van Papierknipkunst
At the heart of this exhibition is the Vereniging van Papierknipkunst, an association dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of papercutting. With a rich history dating back centuries, papercutting has evolved from a decorative craft to a form of fine art, captivating audiences with its ability to transform paper into scenes of beauty and complexity or simple shapes and cut outs.
A diverse group of association's members, ranging from seasoned papercutting experts to emerging talents, contribute to the exhibition. Their creations pay homage to the traditions of the craft and show very new and modern work and techniques. As the doors of the exhibition opens on October 1, visitors will step into a world where paper becomes an instrument of storytelling. The collection will feature an array of original papercuts that showcase the versatility of the medium, from delicate flora and fauna to elaborate scenes that capture moments frozen in time. The walls of the museum will come alive with a diverse selection of work and my wall art and tapestries, and will showcase the extension of papercutting into textiles, creating a fusion of two artistic traditions.

There will be 2 more exibitions in Leiden and Utrecht this year. I will let you know about that soon.
