Hello, I am a surface designer, maker and illustrator who designs start with scissors and black paper. From tapestries or art prints for my etsyshop to designs and patterns available for licensing for any surface. My creations are bold, graphical and colorful with a mid-century modern vibe.
Imperfect handmade cutouts
It all begins with an idea or…. I just start cutting shapes. After that, the playing begins. In this short video I am cutting paper without any Idea or plan, but somehow I often end with a few cut out birds as well. I think that the bird shapes helps me to get into the rhythm and flow, because I like creating them. It helps my mind to wander. As you can see I am a left-handed papercutter. By the way, the song in de video is Around Here by the band Navigate, my sons band. So the creativity runs through the family, they only choose a different instrument.
